Tri-Metro Conference Jamboree

(Two Mile)

Location: Battle Creek Park, Maplewood, MN

Weather: Low 70s and sunny

BOYS

Virtual Meet Projections: Academy of Holy Angels (34), Saint Anthony Village (65), DeLaSalle (74), Saint Agnes (87)

Top Individuals: Jack Peschel (Academy of Holy Angels, 16:57), Liam Sheeley (Academy of Holy Angels, 17:21), Joe Lynch (Saint Anthony Village, 17:37), Tait Nelson (Saint Anthony Village, 18:02), Eli Padilla (Academy of Holy Angels, 18:03)

The Skinny: Liam Sheeley is the only runner ranked in the top five of this field that has raced an event shorter than the 3200m on the track. He has competed in many 800m and 1600m races which should be beneficial because this race is only 2 miles compared to the typical 5000m cross country race. Although his 5000m personal best is far behind his Academy of Holy Angels teammate, Jack Peschel, the shorter distance could close the gap between the two. Having those two score only three points will help to secure what would be their second consecutive win at this meet. Following those two is the duo from Saint Anthony Village, Joe Lynch and Tait Nelson. Saint Anthony Village has those two but their next three scorers do not match Academy of Holy Angel's depth which will make it hard for them to pull off the win.

GIRLS

Virtual Meet Projection: Visitation (15), Saint Anthony Village (40)

Top Individuals: Margaret Dalseth (Visitation, 19:24), Sadie Grunau (Visitation, 19:34), Lauren Kern (Visitation, 19:58), Caitlin Newsome (Visitation, 20:53), Nina Reamer (Visitation, 20:57)

The Skinny: Last year, Visitation High School was one point away from pulling off a perfect score. This year, they look like they have the team to do it. The only runner to break into their top five last year has graduated, making the field more open to pull off the dominating win. The entire top 20 at this meet is projected to only have runners from two different schools (Visitation and Saint Anthony Village). It is predicted that runners from Saint Anthony Village will finish in places six through ten which would be very impressive if it were not to be overshadowed by the performance of Visitation. The two mile distance will make for a close race between teammates Margaret Dalseth and Sadie Grunau. Margaret Dalseth has the speed to make it a fast race coming in with personal bests in the 1600m and 3200m of 5:06 and 11:08, respectively.
