Noah Breker Runs Into the Record Book at Gale Woods Farm

---

The weather permitted it, his legs held up, and history was made at Gale Wood Farms. Noah Breker made history when he crossed the finish line at Gale Wood Farms as the clock read 14:57.20, and man did he break a lot of records!

Breker set a new personal best 5K time, broke his own Robbinsdale school record, broke the Hopkins Bauman/Rovn meet record, broke the Gale Woods Farm course record, and became the fourth Minnesota boy to run a sub-15-minute 5K on Minnesota Soil, and became only the 9th Minnesota boy to run sub 15 minutes overall.

While becoming just the fourth boy to run a sub-15-minute 5K on Minnesota soil, he passed Olympians Obsa Ali, Hassan Mead, and Elliott Heath for the in-state record. Incredibly Mead and Heath did it at the same race.

4Elliott Heath14:58.909/8/2006

As it currently stands, his time if the 5th fastest in state history, but is one of the most impressive given the difficulty of the Gale Wood Farms course. All the other performances below were at the Heartland Regional or in McArthur's case, the 2021 Garmin RunningLane Championships.

On the infamous Gale Wood Farms course that is the home to many of the state's prestigious meets, Breker broke the previous course record of 15:09.80 set by Connor Olson at the 2014 Lake Conference Championships. Just last year Sam Scott and Nick Gilles threatened that record with times of 15:12.30 and 15:16.30 respectively.

Just last year at the 2021 Hopkins Bauman/Rovn Invite, also at Gale Woods Farm, Breker ran a time of 16:10.80 to take 4th place. He also ran a time of 15:21.15 there also at the Section 6AAA Championships.

No one has come close to threatening the state record this early in the season for quite some time, might this be the year it goes down? Or maybe Breker has his sights set on some loftier goals.
