Milesplit Minnesota has a large statistical database of races, times, throws, & jumps from the last several years of Minnesota track and XC. A typical visit to the site will show you some type of statistical list based on best times in many various forms. It could be a regional list, a top runner on a course list, or even a top 25 seniors list. Times, particularly fast times, get the runners, coaches, and fans excited. The runners who bust on to the scene, immediately improve the teams, and make some noise across the state get noticed by everyone.
But what about those runners who take the slow and steady approach and improve significantly? For every Amber Seidenkranz (15:02.6 8th grade PR) there is an Anna Maurer (17:20.1 8th grade PR). Now seniors, Seidenkranz (AA #6) has a 2013 best of 14:29.5 and Maurer (AA #16) has a 2013 best of 14:45.4.
