Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin
You cannot talk about GNK without talking about Geno Uhrbom. There is no single runner in Class A, nor has there been in a long time, who is more exciting than Geno Uhrbom. One of the best freshman in the nation and the third-place finisher at state a year ago, Uhrbom spearheaded yet another young, talented squad that had been ranked highly all season, even in spite of Uhrbom finishing well over a minute ahead of GNK's typical number-two runner Greg Peterson. But while the graduation of Cody Staydohar really hurts by pushing GNK's returning 1-5 spread up to an almost-staggering three minutes, Peterson has been showing great and consistent growth the past two years (he is coming off of running 10:05 in the 3200m last track season) and could be on the verge of breaking out into being one of the state's best number-two runners. If he does that, it won't take a whole lot of improvement from the rest of GNK's squad to push for an even higher finish at state than their seventh-place spot in 2017.
