Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd
Much like Saint James, Lac Qui Parle Valley will not be bringing back their top runner from a year ago, having graduated 5th-place finisher Keiser Freetly, while most of the rest of their young State squad returns. But unlike Saint James, Lac qui Parle Valley returns a bona-fide low stick in Mikey Kvaal, a two-time All-State athlete in the 3200m on the track who took second behind his older teammate seven times last year. With Kvaal scoring likely in the single digits, the rest of the team may only need to do slightly better in order to at least match on their fourth-place finish from last year. And it would help even more if sophomore Ezekiel Sather or freshman Mason Brehmer can take the next step and join Kvall in the 16's. It isn't hard to see a scenario where LQPVDB can seriously challenge Perham for a State Championship, but those two runners may be the key to make that happen.
