12 Boys To Watch In The Heartland Region

Max Manley, Edina (MN)

Arguably Minnesota's top runner all season until a third-place finish at the State championships, Max Manley has had a very consistent and impressive cross-country season. Until State, Tim Sindt was the only runner who had beaten Manley, and none of his wins came cheap. In his win at the the Milaca Mega Meet, he was nine seconds ahead of runner up Addison Stansbury. Another notable run was at the Roy Griak Invite where he finished first with a time of 15:45 over Iverson and Brandt. Manley finished 1st at the Section Championships with a 15:26 also over Brandt, and even his third-place finish at State was a PR of 15:18 just four seconds behind Iverson. Max ran at Regionals last year and finished with a disappointing time of 16:01, and his Edina team missed qualifying. This year should be a different story for sure.
