Alec Atwood, Beresford (SD)

Someone to watch on Sunday, and another runner representing South Dakota is Alec Atwood, who recently won the South Dakota State XC Meet with a time of 16:07. He also finished 1st at regionals with an impressive PR of 15:27, 26 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher.

Austin Streit, Mounds View (MN)

Streit has run at NXR before, and finished 40th last year in a time of 15:36. He recently had a PR of 15:27 at the 5AA Sections Championship a few weeks ago, and is coming off a ninth-place finish at the Minnesota State Championships.

Eli Hoeft, Hopkins (MN)

Eli ran a 15:52 at Heartland last year and could possibly have a strong showing again this year. He had a PR of 15:35 at the MSHSL State XC Championships last weekend. Hoeft has consistently been running sub 16 minute races this season, so a strong race at Heartland on Sunday could be in store for him.

Braden Peters, West Central (SD)

Finishing on the heels just behind Atwood at the SD State XC Meet, in a tense finish was Braden Peters with a time of 16:08. He had a first place finish in the 2A Region, and had a 2nd place PR finish at the Augie Twilight race back in August.

Sean Mcdermott, Madrid (IA)

Sean Mcdermott of Iowa has had a powerhouse XC season with first place finishes across the board and he most recently became the State Champion with a time of 16:16. He had a PR of 15:37 back in September, and will be a runner to watch at NXR.

David Vannucchi, Luther (WI)

David Vannucchi of Wisconsin could have a strong showing at NXR Heartland this year like he did last year when ran a 15:16, which was also a PR. He recently finished 1st in the WIAA State Meet with a solid time of 15:43, a whole 32 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher.
