Cameron Stocke, Virginia, Fr.
Few eighth-grade boys have ever managed to see success on the same scale as Cameron Stocke last year. After not qualifying for State in 7th grade despite several impressive races, Stocke began making a name for himself by competing with, and at times running toe-to-toe with, Geno Uhrbom. Stocke finished 13th at the Class A State Meet last year, and then finished 2nd in the 1600m and 9th in the 800m (the day after running 1:56.83 in prelims). Stocke has even managed to show off his raw speed with a time of 52.03 in the open 400m. Stocke's accomplishments as an eighth-grader have even outdone what Uhrbom did at the same age, and as the two runners are likely to continue battling frequently over the next two years (being both conference and section rivals), Stocke's stock is sure to continue rising quickly.
