GIRLS OPEN INVITATIONAL RESULTS | OPEN RACE VIDEO INTERVIEWS

Over 800 athletes ran in three sections of the Heartland Girls Open Invitational. The one-two tandem of East Ridge (MN) sophomores Halle Mestery and Mary Kenney from the third section ended up as the top two overall in the final results merge. Mestery ran a career best 18:13.1 followed by Kenney's career PR of 18:31.1.

Mounds View (MN) senior Morgan Dahl was third overall after finishing behind Mestery and Kinney in the third section. Her 18:37.0 was a season best and just three seconds off a career best. Rosemount eighth grader Daisy Islas was fourth making it four Minnesota runners out of section three who made up the top four overall. Shawnee Mission Northwest freshman Paige Mullen went under 19 minutes for the first time in winning section one in 18:50.8 and finishing fifth overall.

Senior Lizzy Kramer of Lincoln Pius X (NE) was sixth overall after running fifth in section three. Zumbrota-Mazeppa/Kenyon-Wanamingo freshman Katrina Sortland was seventh after winning section two in 18:55.6 a career best in her only race this season as plays soccer in the fall but is finished 8th in Minnesota Class A in the 800m last spring. Sophomore Katherine Soule of Blue Valley West (KS) was eighth in 18:56.7, just four seconds off a career best that was sixth in section three.

Andover (KS) junior Claire Beckman was ninth overall in 18:57.1, four seconds off her career best and seventh in the third section. Moorhead (MN) senior Taylor Melton was tenth overall, second in section one and one of 11 runners who went under 19 minutes in the open race.
