Wirth this year ran a new personal best time of 15:13.20 at the 2022 Team Heartland Regional, which ranked as the #6 time in Minnesota this season, the #2 time in Class AA, and #20 in his class nationally. His time is also the #2 time ever for a Minnesota sophomore boy.

Wirth ended his season strong with his second straight top-five finish at the Class AA State Meet with a 4th place finish this year. He also drastically improved his finish at the Team Heartland Regional where he improved from 62nd in 2021 to 16th in 2022. He also finished 19th at the Champs Midwest Regional where he finished as the #3 Minnesota boy.
