Athletes will bump up from racing the typical 5k high school distance to contest the 6K for the junior women's race and the 8K for the junior men. The top six finishers in each field will travel to World U20s, while an additional two competitors from each race will earn selection as alternates.

With the race being a 6K, Nechanicky will become just the second Minnesota girl (in our database) to run the 6K (XC) as a high schooler. The other girl to do it was Grace Ping in 2019 also at the USATF Cross Country Championships

There Ping ran a time of 21:27 to finish 4th overall and to finish as the top high school finisher.
