Maggie Ewen Finishes 7th at World Indoor Championships

Maggie Ewen a 2013 graduate of St. Francis High School and a NCAA Champion with Arizona State, finished 7th in the shot put at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, throwing a mark of 18.96 meters (62 feet 2.5 inches). 

Ewen started her day with a throw of 18.90m to finish the first series in 4th, after her second throw was he best mark of 18.96m and that was good enough to hold her in 4th place. She then scratched on three of her next four throws and ended up sliding down to 7th place overall.

This was Ewen's first time at the World Indoor Championships since she finished 5th in the shot put in 2022. She has a long track record of competing and succeeding at the World Championships.

Ewen has also won the USA National Title in the shot put two times and owns six big titles overall as a professional alongside her wins in the shot put at the 2018 NACAC Championships, the 2019 The Match Europe vs. USA, a 2021 Diamond League title, and the 2022 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships title. 

As a high schooler for St. Francis, Ewen went undefeated in all competitions in 2011, 2012, and 2013 in both the shot put and discus, and was also undefeated in 2010 in the discus. She owns both state records in the shot put in the discus and by large margins. She holds an advantage of 2' 3.75" in the shot put and an advantage of 8' 3" in the discus.

Overall, Ewen owns 11 of the top 20 shot put marks of all-time and 15 of the top 20 discus marks of all-time. She parlayed her success in Minnesota to the national level in 2013 when she won both the shot put and discus titles at New Balance Outdoor Nationals.
