Minnetonka (MN)
Like their boys team, the Minnetonka girls bore the misfortune of competing in the same section as Wayzata and Edina, with only two advancing on to the state meet. Last year, Minnetonka beat Wayzata for that second spot, but this year Minnetonka took third by 11 points and failed to advance even though hey returned all seven runners.
Led by seniors Sophie Whicher and Libby Halbmaier, and plenty of depth, the Skippers have all the ingredients to upset at least one of their rivals if they put everything together. And with most of their team not running at state, they've had plenty of time to rest and prepare for Heartland. Don't be shocked if Minnetonka surprises a few people on Sunday.
