Top 13 Heartland Girls With National Aspirations

Genevieve Nashold, Madison West (WI)

We didn't get to see Nashold at Griak, so she enters as a mystery. In her first season running competitively, Nashold has yet to lose. She's only run against in state competition, and hasn't really had a major test yet. Nashold will have to adjust to the deepest meet she's ever run in by far. She concluded her phenomenal freshman season with a Division 1 State title in Wisconsin in 18:10, 16 seconds in front of the runner-up. It was the second fastest time of the day, behind Leah Kravoletz. The rookie standout has consistently been running solid times in the low 18s, but she looks to be on the brink of a breakout race. Nashold should shatter the 18:00 barrier on the fast Yankton Trails course, but it's unclear by how much. It would not be shocking if Nashold drops a huge PR against the extremely deep field.
