Top 13 Heartland Girls With National Aspirations

Dana Feyen, Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau (WI)

Dana Feyen has long been one of the top runners in the Heartland region, and she should again compete for a first team finish here. Feyen took 11th here a year ago, where she ran her personal best of 17:42. She kept it rolling in track, sweeping the WIAA D2 distance titles, including a strong 10:36.06 3200m. In that race she beat Leah Kravoletz convincingly. Coupled with her eighth place finish at Griak, the top Heartland performance by a non-Minnesotan. Feyen was also six seconds ahead of D2 rival Kravoletz. At their state meet, Kravoletz emerged ahead by a large margin, but it's clear that at her best, Feyen can run right with her. And Feyen won the D2 championship in both 2016 and 2017. Feyen also appears to be in better shape than she was last year at this point, as her 18:19 State course time was 20 seconds faster than last season.
