BOYS RECAP: Led by a top three sweep, Saint Cloud Apollo took home the team victory at Monticello, highlighted by the individual win of junior Sam Brewer in 17:00.1. The Eagles averaged a 17:31 over a 1:09 spread to edge second place Sartell-Saint Stephen. Princeton senior Ryan Young was fourth followed by Big Lake freshman Kade Layton in fifth. Sartell's top runner was sixth place senior Ben Boelter.

GIRLS RECAP: Sartell was too much for the field placing their top five in the top eight with a 20:44 average. Princeton senior Lexi Duscher won the race in 19:47.1 by pulling away from by Sartell junior Ingrid Buiceag-Arama in the final 400 meters. Monticello senior Elise Yeager was third followed by Sartell eighth grader Ashley Nelson and Monticello junior Gabriella Witschen rounding out the top five.

Spartan Challenge (Bettendorf, IA)

BOYS RECAP: We added this one to our recap because MNXCCA no 6 Edina took their varsity to Iowa for their first 5k of the year. The Hornets posted some impressive results finishing second to Wheaton North (IL), a top ten team from Illinois. Edina's no. 1 man, senior Russell Gokemeijer was second overall on a hilly course in 16:21 just head of fellow senior Augustus Hubbell in 16:26. Senior Mauricio Xochitecatl gave the Hornets another sub-17 minute man going 16: 42 in 10th place. Edina and Wheaton North were the only teams to have three runners in the top ten and pulled ahead of the Hornets with advantages at the fourth and fifth positions.

GIRLS RECAP: On the girls side Edina faced off with Naperville North, the seventh ranked team in the MileSplit 50 national rankings. Edina was ranked 13th in those same rankings so Saturday was a great chance to see two national powers run regular season races in the same field. Edina ended up just three points back in second place with senior Morgan Richter running 18:57 for third place overall. The Hornets averaged a 19:17 on a 52 second split and won head to head scoring battles at the third and fourth positions vs Naperville North who gained the final edge from going 1-2 individually, just ahead of Richter. Sophomore Maggie Wagner was fifth with fellow sophomore Macy Iyer and freshman Lauren Cossack going 9th and 10th overall.
