Sprinting towards to finish line of the St. Olaf High School Showcase in 2021, you wouldn't be remiss if you were wondering who the boy from Minneapolis Southwest was leading the race. If you didn't know him then, you definitely know him now after his historic 2021 cross country season.
Scott was just the 16th ranked individual (based on 2020 5K times) going into last year's season-opening race at St. Olaf. Scott was the 8th ranked preseason Class AAA boys individual in the coaches' ranking and four of the individuals ahead of him and Class A #1 Jakob McCleary and Class AA #3 Alden Keller were also projected ahead of him.

So expectations weren't very high from a coaches and virtual meet standpoint for Scott, but then he went and blew everyone away.
Taking the win with a time of 15:35.60, Scott shattered his previous personal best time of 16:18.20, set a new meet record time, rocketed up to the #1 ranking in the Class AAA coaches rankings the next week, and then came in at #23 in the MileSplit50 National boys individual rankings.
After St. Olaf, Scott reeled off 5 more wins in a row, including titles at the Roy Griak Invitational, the Minneapolis City Conference Championships, the Lakeville AppleJack Invitational, and the Hopkins Bauman/Rovn Invitational.
Scott ended his season with one of his most impressive performances at the Heartland regional where he ran a time of 15:10.40 to finish 4th overall. By the end of the season, that time sat 18t all-time by a Minnesota boy.
Scott has already become one of the most talented runners in Minnesota state history through his sophomore year. He already has the top sophomore boys' time by a Minnesota boy all-time, and the 18th fastest 5K all-time by a Minnesota boy. He starts off his junior year here at St. Olaf again, and boy are we excited to see the encore.
