Geno Uhrbom, Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin, So
As Matt Steiger and Declan Dahlberg have graduated, there must be a new champion in Class A this year and Geno Uhrbom will be the favorite to take over the top of the podium in the 2018 Cross Country season. Uhrbom will just be a sophomore going into this season, and as a freshman, he proved he can compete with the best in the state.It's worth noting that Geno was undefeated going into the state meet last season. Taking third at the state meet last season with a fast time of 15:56 on the tough State course, he opened many eyes across the state instantly. A week later he popped a 15:36 on the Nike Heartland course, which was the fourth-fastest time by a freshman in the whole country last year. During track season he went on to run times of 4:26 and 9:33, which placed him 7th and 3rd in the 1600 and 3200, respectively. Uhrbom made clear in an interview after the Milaca Mega Meet that he has big goals in his future, not only to win state this upcoming season, but by the time he graduates, to be a national champion.
