With no official MSHSL Indoor Track and Field season, most of Minnesota's track and field athletes have been running at the USATF Minnesota-sponsored All-Comers meets. Here we look at the top performances, the record-breakers and other notable notes.

Abbey Nechanicky Breaks State 3000m Indoor Record

In an already record-breaking senior season for Abbey Nechanicky, the Wayzata standout set a new state record in her first indoor meet of the season in the indoor 3000m at the USATF Minnesota All-Comers Indoor Track and Field Meet at Bethel University.

Breker ran a time of 9:26.25 for 3,000 meters to break the previous record set by Grace Ping in 2018 when she ran a time of 9:45.95 at another USATF Minnesota All-Comers meet.

Many Minnesota Girls Enter Top-Ten for Indoor 1-Mile Times

Teegan Anderson, Macy Hanson, and Hannah Boese all entered the top ten with their 1-mile race results from the USATF MN All-Comers Meet #3.

Michael Nicometo Runs Minnesota #2 All-Time Indoor 200m Dash

One of the breakout stars of the 2022 track and field season, Michael Nicometo started off his 2023 track and field season strong by running the #2 Minnesota Indoor 200m time of 22.45. His time of 22.45 is just 0.06 seconds off the state record set by Quinn Evans in 2007. 

Annaka Forsberg Sets MN #3 Indoor High Jump Mark

Coming oh so close to a new state record, Annaka Forsberg jumped to a height of 5' 7" to come just an inch off the state indoor high jump record of 5' 8" that is shared by Madison Bremer and Niamya Holloway. This ties Forsbergs outdoor PR of 5' 7" set last year at the Section 1A True Team meet. Forsberg is now tied for #3 all-time in Minnesota for the indoor high jump at 5' 7" with Shaina Burns


Tong and Smith Jr. Make History with 400m Race

Harlow Tong and Dwyne Smith Jr. made state history with their 400m race at last weekend's USATF MN All-Comers meet when they finished with times of 49.92 (Smith Jr.) and 49.95 (Tong). With those times, they set the #3 and #4 all-time indoor 400m times for Minnesota boys and became the first pair of Minnesota boys to run under 50 seconds in an indoor at the same meet.

Keondre Bryant Runs Minnesota #6 All-Time Indoor 60m Time

Running a time of 6.96 seconds at the most recent USATF MN All-Comers meet, Keondre Bryant is now tied for 6th all-time in the indoor 60m dash with Shaheed Hickman and Denzel Brown. Could he break the state record of 6.88 set by Drew Olson in 2019?

Layton, Gomes, and Holton Enter Top-Ten All-Time List for the Indoor 3000m

The state record has already been set by Noah Breker earlier this season, but Owen Layton, Aidan Gomes, and Nicholas Holton also set new top-ten all-time times in the indoor 3000m this season. At the USATF MN All-Comers Meet #4 this season, they finished with times of 8:56.14 (Layton), 9:07.50 (Gomes), and 9:14.01 (Holton) to rank #6, #8, and #9 all-time. 

Vivienne Larson Runs #8 All-Time Indoor 3000m

Entering the top-ten all-time indoor 3000m list with a time of 10:32.87, Vivienne Larson now holds the #8 time all-time for a Minnesota girl. She is now behind Abbey Nechanicky and Maya Mor who will both will be some of her main competition this spring, albeit in a different class.
