Eleven Class A Girls Who Want To Make History In 2018

BONUS: Madeline Kelly, Providence Academy, Jr

If you're keeping count, this list of ten is now eleven deep. But we couldn't go without mentioning Madeline Kelly. Despite PRs of 5:08, 11:11, and 19:14, Kelly enters the season as a bit of a dark horse. That's because she was forced to miss the entire 2017 campaign to recover from a torn MCL, ACL and meniscus. It's easy to forget that during the 2016-2017 school year, Kelly was 4th at State in both cross country and the 3200m. Until her injury, Kelly was seen by many as a lock for a top five finish in XC. She she has since make an impressive comeback for track, qualifying for State in the 3200m just ten months after major surgery (and three weeks after her first race of the season), where she crossed the line 15th in 11:56. Both the place and time seem like modest results for Kelly, but given her situation, to even qualify was an incredible achievement. With more time to build a base this summer, keep an eye out for Kelly to show major improvement from her track season. And if Kelly can come anywhere near her pre-injury fitness, there's no doubt that she will be on the podium this November.
