Eleven Class A Girls Who Want To Make History In 2018

Tenley Nelson, Luverne, Fr

One of the most exciting things about the extremely talented Class A girls is the fact that the majority of the best athletes still have multiple seasons ahead of them. Tenley Nelson adds to that list, as she's already made a name for herself before even starting high school. As an 8th grader, Nelson finished 5th at State in both cross country and the 3200m. Interestingly, Nelson seems to have somewhat slower starts to the year. In cross country, she only broke 19:30 once prior to running 18:50 at State, while in track, had not gone under 11:30 before dropping an 11:04 at State. It's clear that Nelson shows up when it's most important, so she should not be counted out in November. And after dropping nearly a minute off of her 3200m best this spring (she ran 12:01 as a 7th grader), it seems that Nelson has enormous potential on the grass this fall.
