Katherine Geist, Crookston, Jr
In 2017, Katherine Geist had a somewhat disappointing cross country season. The year before, Geist had cruised to her first All-State performance in 17th, bettering her place at State by 21 from the previous season. Yet in 2017, Geist only cracked 20:00 once and finished 51st in 20:10, roughly 35 seconds out of All-State. However, in track, Geist was in entirely different shape. Her fitness looked better than it had ever been, as she set huge PRs of 11:13 and 5:06 at State to finish 6th and 7th respectively. With such strong times, Geist looks primed to outperform her 2017 results by huge margins this fall. If she reaches the same peak shape that we saw in track, Geist should earn her first podium spot in cross country. And that's not to mention that she will be expected to completely shatter her 19:26 5k PR.
