Emma Atkinson, Wayzata, Jr
Emma Atkinson has consistently improved throughout her career and is ready to continue that trend this season. Last year, she came in a surprising third place finish at the State Cross Country Championships as a Sophomore. Atkinson is coming off of a strong track season where she grabbed personal bests in the 400,800, 1600, and 3200 and finished fourth and second in the 800 and 4x800 respectively. It will be interesting to see what she does this year in cross country after focusing on the shorter distances during the track season. Atkinson has experience running in big meets as she competed at Nike Cross Nationals with the Wayzata team in 2017. Her speed and experience in competitive races could lead her to a strong finish.
