Ten Class AA Girls Ready To Challenge For The Title In 2018

Anna Fenske, Farmington, So

Anna Fenske has always been thought of as the "young talent," but she is coming into this season as a sophomore with 3 years of experience under her belt now, officially putting her past the halfway point of her high school running career.  She won the cross country State title in 2016 and followed that up with a State title in the 1600m on the track. At the 2017 cross country State Meet, only an outstanding effort by Emily Covert prevented her from defending her title as she finished runner-up. For being so young, she has a copious amount of All-State accolades, many coming from finishes that landed her close to the title. Fenske is not only a name on the Minnesota state scene, she has also been a top finisher on the national scene.  She has qualified for the Nike Cross Nationals meet twice and is coming off of an incredible tenth place finish at that meet in 2017. While her fourth-place finish in the 3200m and 14th place finish in the 1600m at this year's State Track and Field championships did not match up to her 2016 track season, Fenske will definitely put up a fight as she chases another State title this cross country season.
