Wayzata
Defending champions Wayzata will look to hold onto their title on the girls side, returning four of their top five scorers from last year. Low sticks Emma Atkinson and Caroline Sassan return with the third and fourth fastest times in Class AA from 2017, and they have a strong fifth runner candidate in Emelia Arnone. Last year, the Wayzata girls took first in six of their seven regular season races, only missing out on the top spot in a stacked Roy Griak field. This year they will be gunning for a perfect record. Boasting three girls who have run under 18 minutes, Wayzata looks prepared to perform well not only at home, but across the nation. Indeed by 5K time, they return as the fastest team nationwide. Could we see another year like 2013, when Wayzata became the first non-New York team to win NXN?
