Ten Class AA Girls Squads With The Biggest Potential

Edina

Last year's second place finisher at State, Edina returns five of their top seven but will have their work cut out for them replacing frontrunner Emily Kompelien. After being dogged with injuries from key runners last year, they will be looking to hit their stride again and find the success that led them to two straight team titles in 2015 and 2016 and three NXN berths in as many years. Senior Maria Rickman, who ran 4:59 to qualify for State in the 1600m by standard this past spring, is poised to lead the way. She will be followed by All-State runners Sadie Schreiner and Morgan Richter. Right now on paper, another State title would be a challenge, but if Edina remains healthy, this squad is easily within striking distance of Wayzata's remarkable strength.
