Week two has arrived so let's get right to looking at what to watch early in what will be a busy stretch of action.
Milaca Early Bird (8/26, time moved up for weather)
Location: Stones Throw GC, Milaca
Weather: 66°, cloudy
BOYS:
Virtual Meet Projection: Saint Cloud Cathedral (65), Mora (76), Little Falls (129)
Individuals to watch: Cooper Lennox (Mora, 15:50.9), Cedric Lefave (Hinckley-Finlayson, 16:58.8), Kade Layton (Big Lake, 16:59), Jackson Grant (Little Falls, 17:13.7), Josh Rawls (Mora, 17:19.9)
The Skinny: It appears a two horse race in the team scores with Cathedral and Mora neck and neck. Mora's Cooper Lennox comes in with a PR over a minute faster than his closest competitor, Cedric Lefave of Hinckley-Findlayson. The race for second may be more interesting as the next four PRs are within 20 seconds and will likely decide the team winner even though several competitors squads will be out of the running for the win. Mora projects for two in the top five but may not have another scorer inside the top 15. In that gap, Cathedral has potential to place their top five. Should be fun to see the early season competitive juices up and running!
GIRLS:
Virtual Meet Projection: Mora (48), Chisago Lakes (65), Pierz (89), Little Falls (97)
Individuals to watch: Carissa Andres (Pierz, 19:50.4), Peyton Oslin (Mora, 19:59.4), Courtney Loeffler (Little Falls, 20:03.6)
The Skinny: Our projections say Mora is the class of the field with potential for four in the top ten. Chisago looks to join them with a possible five in the top 25. Pierz freshman Carissa Andres comes in with the top PR not too far ahead of Mora junior Peyton Oslin. The race at the front should be entertaining with eight runners coming in with PR's within a 40 second range and early season races are always unpredictable, especially at Stones Throw GC!
