Meet Previews: Week Two Opens Across the State

Location: Mankato East High School

Weather: 68, sunny

BOYS

Virtual Meet Projections: Mankato East (28.5), Belle Plaine (62), Springfield (92), Sibley East (95)

Individuals to watch: Jett Oachs (Mankato East, 16:07.6), Drew Hastings (Belle Plaine 16:14.31),

The Skinny: According what we know about the returners in this meet, it looks like three schools could be represented in the top four and five schools could have runners in the top ten making for an entertaining meet. Mankato East appears the team favorite led by Jett Oachs and Matthew Wedzina who could each place in the top five. The home team also could put seven in the top ten and dominate the meet. Belle Plaine senior Drew Hastings has a PR less than nine seconds behind Oachs so the race up front should also be fun to watch.

GIRLS

Virtual Meet Projections: Belle Plaine (27), Mankato East (37), Sibley East (87), Springfield (91)

Individuals to watch: Olivia Beschorner (Mankato East, 19:08.7), McKenna Herrmann (Belle Plaine, 19:26.15), Emmy Schulz (Mankato East, 19:27.3), Lizzy Schmidt (Belle Plaine, 19:56.77)

The Skinny: Belle Plaine looks to be the favorite based on returning numbers with the chance to put five in the top eight and all seven in the top 15. Mankato East is the team shaping up to be the challenger with three in the top five but last year's numbers have a split of almost three minutes that could be the difference. Individually the race features a host of state meet qualifiers lead by Olivia Beschorner (Makato East) McKenna Herrmann (Belle Plaine) which provides a good early season test right out of the gates.
