Austin Streit, Mounds View, Sr
Austin Streit of Mounds View has quietly became a legitimate competitor in Minnesota distance running. He doesn't have many eye-popping wins per se, but rather in every big race he puts himself in the mix and gets the job done. He placed 14th and earned All-State honors in the fall, and continued to make significant strides in winter training to put himself in elite company come springtime. He started off his outdoor season with a runner-up finish in the Hamline Elite Meet 1600m, which would set the tone for his mile dominance throughout the spring. At State he cranked a 5 second PR of 4:15.72 and broke the Mounds View school record, while placing third overall. Streit is due for a victory on the highest stage, and with his team returning five of their seven, he will have a fantastic surrounding crew to help him get there.
