Ten Class AA Boys Individuals to Watch Out For in 2018

Charlie Babcock, Forest Lake, Sr

Charlie Babcock has been at the head of his Forest Lake team ever since he was a freshman, and has steadily built up his repertoire in all the years since. Last year was his best to date, first earning his first All-State honors by finishing 24th, and then dropping a quick 15:47 at the Heartland Region a week later. His improvement continued on into track as he qualified for the State Meet in both the 1600m and 3200m for the second year in a row, placing top-ten in the latter with a time of 9:25.77. Finally a senior, Babcock will be gunning not only to get his own team back to State for the third year in a row, but make yet another leap into the highest-possible tier. Expect to see Babcock holding onto the leaders come November, searching to become the first individual from Forest Lake to place top five since Eric Pierce in 1994.
