Ten Class AA Boys Individuals to Watch Out For in 2018

Luke Labatte is no stranger to the St. Olaf State Meet course. In fact, he's raced there all three years of his high school career, and there's no reason why he won't be back this year in pursuit of an individual State title. As a junior last fall he placed third, outkicking Andover senior Tom Breuckman. This came after he won the Section 3AA meet by over ten seconds. He went on to represent Minnesota well at NXR, placing 16th and becoming the seventh-fastest returner in the region, making him a serious threat for one of the NXN individual qualifier bids. On the track this spring Labatte helped Rosemount place fourth at the True Team State Meet by finishing seventh in the 800m and fifth in the 1600m. He later went on to run season PRs of 4:17.52 and 9:19.98 on the big stage at the MSHSL State Meet. Labatte has the speed, poise, and experience of a State Champion, so there's no doubt he'll be in the mix come November.
