Maple Lake
Like a few of the other top Class A teams, Maple Lake returns their entire top seven from a year ago. With that group of seven, the Maple Lake girls cruised to a 7th place finish in 2017, but could likely better that mark this season. Led by Augustus Demarais, their 1:22 1-5 split is solid, though they will need to decrease that time because they lack a comparable lowstick to some of the other top Class A teams. The key to Maple Lake's growth and success will be the development of their young trio of Demarais, Sophie Pribyl, and Mary Miller, who were all huge factors in helping Maple Lake win True Team State last track season. Demarais and Miller are rising sophomores, while Pribyl is just a freshman. And if their fourth and fifth (and even sixth) runners can drop some time to under the 21-minute barrier at State, Maple Lake will be in good position to be a top five team at the very least.
