Class AA Girls

Sprints

100m Top Seeds: Maddie Dahlien (Edina) - 12.08, Aaliyah Heine (Saint Michael-Albertville) - 12.08, Mackenzie Jacobson (Rosemount) - 12.13
100m Fastest Season Bests: Dahlien - 12.08, Heine - 12.08, Jacobson - 12.13
100m Returners: Dahlien (2019 2nd Place), Alexis Pratt (2019 4th Place)
The Skinny: It's a deep class of 100m runners this year with very little separation at the top between Dahlien, Heine, Jacobson, and Pratt. The favorite has to be Dahlien, who hasn't lost a race all year in the 100m and has consistently run under 12.20. Keep an eye out for returner Alexis Pratt who had a late-season start, and is just now starting to hit her stride.

200m Top Seeds: Alexis Pratt (Stillwater) - 24.71, Maddie Dahlien (Edina) - 25.0, Laubenra Ben (Park Center) - 25.09
200m Fastest Season Bests: Dahlien - 24.70, Pratt - 24.71, Ben - 25.09
200m Returners: Dahlien (2019 2nd Place), Ben (2019 4th Place), Pratt (2019 5th Place)
The Skinny: The 200m is headed up Dahlien and Pratt who are the only runners in Class AA with a 200m time below 25 seconds. They have both gone under 25 seconds twice, no neither girl has a significant advantage over the other. No one else has consistently run in the low 25.xx, but if we're looking for an upset, watch out for Byron's Katie Lambrecht in the first heat.

400m Top Seeds: Maddie Dahlien (Edina) - 56.61, Allie Niska (Duluth East) - 57.97, Jenna Johnson (Rosemount) - 58.09
400m Fastest Season Bests: Dahlien - 56.23, Jordyn Borsch (Maple Grove) - 57.26, Kate LeBlanc (Minnetonka) - 57.45
400m Returners: Dahlien (2019 2nd Place)
The Skinny: Dahlien will come into the 400m as a huge favorite. She is the only girl in Class AA to run under 57 seconds in the 400m, and she has done it five times in a row now. She is a second faster than the next fastest girl in her heat. If anyone can pull off the upset, it might be Minnetonkas Kate LeBlanc who has run four of the ten performances under 58 seconds (excluding Dahlien).

Hurdles

100H Top Seeds: Ava Cinnamo (Rosemount) - 14.34, Hannah Hanson (Rochester Mayo) - 14.56, Kennedy Martinson (Coon Rapids) - 14.59
100H Fastest Season Bests: Cinnamo - 14.43, Hanson - 14.56, Martinson - 14.59
100H Returners: Ava Fitzgerald (2019 6th Place)
The Skinny: If we disregard heavily wind-aided times, we have a pretty wide-open 100m hurdles girls race here. The top two times by Cinnamo and Hanson were both pretty wind-aided. Martinson has been one of the more consistent runners with several sub-15-second runs. Then we also have Winonas Chloe Hughes who has two top-ten performances this season. A dark horse in the race is sophomore Ruby Pajibo who has come on strong late in the season with a couple of sub-15-second performances and wins against Cinnamo.

300H Top Seeds: Grace Brandt (Spring Lake Park) - 44.27, Ava Cinnamo (Rosemount) - 44.81, Claire Kohler (Minnetonka) - 45.05
300H Fastest Season Bests: Brandt - 44.27, Cinnamo - 44.52, Kohler - 44.58
300H Returners: Cinnamo (2019 4th Place), Ava Fitzgerald (2019 5th Place), Jillian Hiveley (2019 8th Place)
The Skinny:

Distance

800m Top Seeds: Zoie Dundon (Burnsville) - 2:10.63, Sydney Drevlow (Hopkins) - 2:14.59, Izzy Engle (Edina) - 2:14.94
800m Fastest Season Bests: Dundon - 2:10.63, Engle - 2:12.80, Drevlow - 2:13.07
800m Returners: Emilie Meyer (2019 4th Place), Dundon (2019 7th Place), Rina Aschemann (2019 8th Place)
The Skinny: You know it's a deep race when none of the returners from the 2019 state meet can crack the top three qualifying times or the top three best times of the season. Dundon has to be the favorite after running what is easily the top two times of the season. Her time of 2:10.63 is the 10th fastest all-time for Minnesota. Don't count out on Drevlow, Engle, or Taylor Heimerl though.

1600m Top Seeds: Analee Weaver (Stillwater) - 4:56.01, Ali Weimer (Saint Michael-Albertville) - 4:57.23, Isabella Roemer (Chanhassen) - 4:58.25
1600m Fastest Season Bests: Weaver - 4:49.59, Molly Moening (Saint Paul Highland Park) - 4:53.70, Maya Mor (Minnetonka) - 4:54.20
1600m Returners: Weaver (2019 4th Place), Anna Fenske (2019 6th Place), Moening (2019 8th Place), Isabelle Schmitz (2019 9th Place),
The Skinny: No offense to anyone else in the field, but Analee Weaver is the heavy favorite in the 1600m in what will be her final high school race. Her time of 4:49.59 is the 10th fastest of all-time in Minnesota and is a little over four seconds faster than anyone else in the field. A few girls that might be able to challenge her include Ali Weimer, Molly Moening Abbey Nechanicky, Isabella Roemer, or 2:10 800m runner Zoie Dundon

3200m Top Seeds: Isabella Roemer (Chanhassen) - 10:28.10, Ali Weimer (Saint Michael-Albertville) - 10:33.32, Analee Weaver (Stillwater) - 10:34.22
3200m Fastest Season Bests: Weaver - 10:24.09, Roemer - 10:28.10, Abbey Nechanicky (Wayzata) - 10:30.55
3200m Returners: Weaver (2019 2nd Place), Isabelle Schmitz (2019 5th Place), Weimer (2019 6th Place), Halle Mestery (2019 10th Place)
The Skinny: Four girls come into this race in a class of their own for the 3200m. Analee Weaver, Ali Weimer, Abbey Nechanicky, and Isabella Roemer. They are the only girls to run under 10:53 this season, and all four of them have done it by a healthy margin. Roemer has done it four times, Weaver has done it three times, and Nechanicky and Weimer have both done it twice. Put them all together and who knows what might happen. Weavers' time of 10:24.09 is the 7th fastest all-time, and the fastest time which is not a converted 2-mile. Romer has shaved off over a minute off her 2019 3200m PR.

Relays

4x100m Top Seeds: Wayzata - 48.85, Saint Michael-Albertville - 49.10, Winona - 49.19
4x100m Fastest Season Bests: Wayzata - 48.85, Saint Michael-Albertville - 49.10, Winona - 49.19
The Skinny: In a race where every little moment matters, it's hard to pick out favorites, but the three squads listed above have distanced themselves from the rest of the pack. The next closest team behind Winona is the Rochester Century girls, 0.21 behind.

4x200m Top Seeds: Rosemount - 1:43.25, Wayzata - 1:43.50, Eastview - 1:44.66
4x200m Fastest Season Bests: Edina - 1:42.91, Rosemount - 1:43.25, Wayzata 1:43.50
The Skinny: Rosemount, and Wayzata have distanced themselves from the rest of the teams competing, as they are the only squads to run below 1:44. Edina surprisingly didn't qualify after being the only team to run a sub 1:43. They finished 6th at their section meet. The next closest teams behind Rosemount and Wayzata are Eastview and Roseville

4x400m Top Seeds: Edina - 3:58.02, Minnetonka - 3:59.81, Rosemount - 4:00.99
4x400m Fastest Season Bests: Edina - 3:54.21, Minnetonka - 3:59.81, Rosemount - 4:00.99
The Skinny: Edina will go into this one as the heavy favorite for the 4x400 relay. They are one of only two squads under 4:00 and own the top qualifying time and the state best time. Their state-best time is over 5 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor.

4x800m Top Seeds: Wayzata - 9:20.70, Minnetonka - 9:23.30, Eagan - 9:35.45
4x800m Fastest Season Bests: Wayzata - 9:20.70, Rocori - 9:21.02, Eagan 9:21.02
The Skinny: This looks to be a three-team race between Wayzata, Eagan, and Saint Paul Highland Park. Though they had vastly different qualifying times, all three of those teams had a season-best time of under 9:23.

Jumps

Long Jump Top Seeds: Sam Christoffer (Willmar) - 18' 4", Delanie Siewert (Maple Grove) - 18' 1", Victoria Laberge (Spring Lake Park) - 17' 10.5"
Long Jump Season Bests: Paige Kalis (New Ulm) - 18' 5.5", Laberge - 18' 5.5", Christoffer - 18' 4"
Long Jump Returners: Laberge (2019 6th Place), Kalis (2019 9th Place), Sophie Nilsson (2019 10th Place)
The Skinny: The long jump is headed up by Victoria Laberge who is the top returner from the 2019 state meet and is tied for the season's best jump, but it really is anyone's title to take. This is a deep group that has three returners from the 2019 state meet and seven girls who have jumped over 17' 9".

Triple Jump Top Seeds: Samantha Barrett (Prior Lake) - 39' 10", Sophie Nilsson (Burnsville) - 37' 6", Ava Cinnamo (Rosemount) - 37' 01"
Triple Jump Season Bests: Barrett - 40' 7", Laubenra Ben (Park Center) - 38' 5.75", Olivia Keller (Academy of Holy Angels) - 38' 2.5"
Triple Jump Returners: Barrett (2019 State Champion), Mara Braun (2019 3rd Place), Victoria Laberge (2019 5th Place)
The Skinny: The defending state champion will come into this event as really the only option to win basically. Barrett has a personal best of 40' 7" which is the 3rd best mark all-time in Minnesota. She has gone over 40 feet twice this season and has the seven best performances in Class AA this season. If anyone might be able to surpass her, it might be Laberge or Braun.

High Jump Top Seeds: Winnie Stone (Minnetonka) - 5' 5", Niamya Holloway (Eden Prairie) - 5' 5", Olivia Jameson (Cloquet) - 5' 5"
High Jump Season Bests: Holloway - 5' 8", Caroline Anderson (Henry SIbley) - 5' 7", Jameson - 5' 6"
High Jump Returners: Anderson (2019 4th Place), Jameson (2019 9th Place), Ainsley Hansen (2019 10th Place)
The Skinny: Niamya Holloway will enter state with the top qualifying mark, and the best jump of the season. Holloway has jumped 5' 8" three times this season and 5' 7" once. The only other girl to approach those marks has been Caroline Anderson, who has jumped 5' 7" once.

Pole Vault Top Seeds: Julia Gherardi (Hibbing) - 12' 7", Sofia Condon (Anoka) - 11' 7", Carolyn Tarpey (Eden Prairie) - 11' 7"
Pole Vault Season Bests: Gherardi - 12' 7", Abigail Olenius (Mankato West) - 12' 3", Paige Bauer (North Branch) - 12' 0"
Pole Vault Returners: Mikelle Naatjes (2019 3rd Place), Bauer (2019 7th Place), Olenius (2019 9th Place), Tarpey (2019 12th Place)
The Skinny: Class AA has been dominated by one girl this year, and her name is Julia Gherardi. Gherardi has jumped 12' 0" or higher six times, compared to only twice for her competition.

Throws

Shot Put Top Seeds: Hadley Streit (Mounds View) - 41' 0.25", Miranda Travis (Wayzata) - 40' 0", Laila Lakanen (Anoka) - 39' 7.5"
Shot Put Longest Season Bests: Streit - 41' 0.25", Jordan Hecht (Rosemount) - 40' 9.5", Adison Kapitzke (Champlin Park) - 40' 0.25"
Shot Put Returners: Abby Hepper (2019 14th Place)
The Skinny: Two throwers have distanced themselves from the rest of the pack, Hadley Streit and Jordan Hecht. Streit is the only thrower of 41 feet this year, and Hecht is only a few inches behind. Hecht also has a lead of over 9 inches on her nearest competitor. The only other thrower over 40 feet is Miranda Travis.

Discus Top Seeds: Adison Kapitzke (Champlin Park) - 132' 6", Jordan Hecht (Rosemount) - 131' 10", Shelby Svien (Northfield) - 131' 7"
Longest Season Bests: Hecht - 138' 10", Kapitzke - 137' 10", Svien - 131' 7"
Discus Jump Returners: None
The Skinny: Kapitzke and Hecht have distanced themselves from the competition all season long going into state., by being the only two girls to throw over 132 feet. Hecht has more experience as a thrower and has won the discus event at eight straight meets. Kapitzke has only thrown at three later season meets but has already made quite the impression throwing over 130 feet twice.
