It was Abbey Nechanicky from the beginning of the race until she crossed the finish line in a record-breaking performance for the standout runner from Wayzata. Nechanicky ran her fourth straight sub 17 minute 5K on the season finishing with a time of 16:47.61 to win her first state cross country championship.
Nechanicky broke the state meet record and course record held formerly by her future Colorado teammate Emily Covert. Covert ran a time of 17:03.40 in 2018 to set the previous state and course records at St. Olaf.
Sydney Drevlow finished 2nd for the second year in a row after finishing behind Ali Weimer last fall. Drevlows time of 17:39.80 is the 8th fastest girl's state meet 5K time all-time.

As expected the Wayzata girls won by a large margin in the team race outscoring Minnetonka by 50 points. The Wayzata girls ran a team average of 18:14 which is one of the best team averages nationally. They placed all five runners in the top 22 runners overall, and all five runners in the top 15 runners who were eligible to score team points.

At the mile mark, it was a close race between Aidan Jones, Sam Scott, Noah Breker, and Nick Gilles. By the second mile that lead group was down to Sam Scott and Aidan Jones who took it down to the last 200 meters to decide the state champion.
Aidan Jones was able to outlast Scott to become a first-time state champion. Jones ran a time of 15:11.73 to beat out Scott who ran a time of 15:15.30. Jone's time of 15:11.73 is the 4th fastest boys 5K time at state all-time only behind Hassan Mead, Jonathan Stublaski, and Garrett Heath.
Scotts time of 15:15.30 is the 7th fastest boys 5K time at state all-time and is the 2nd fastest runner-up performance at state all-time only behind Jonathan Stublaski who ran a time of 15:11.30 to finish behind Hassan Mead in 2010.

As expected the Wayzata boys secured another cross-country state title with a 41-point victory over Rosemount. They placed 3 runners in the top 11 scoring runners and all 5 in the top 21. They ran to a 15:46 team average, jsut behind their season average of 15:38.92.
