INDIVIDUAL STATE QUALIFIERS: 1. Natasha Sortland, Z-M/K-W; 3. Lauryn Renier, Rochester Lourdes; 4. Madilyn Simon, Plainview-Elgin-Millville; 5. Meg Degen, Rochester Lourdes; 6. MollyKate Hagen, P-E-M; 9. Aletta Strande, Chatfield; 11. Claire Ebertowski, Cotter; 13. Aubrey Williams, Cotter
RECAP: No. 5 Lake City earned a section 1A title by seven points over no. 8 Stewartville. Lake City used a strong top three to overcome Stewartville's better team split. No.1 ranked Zumbrota-Mazeppa/Keynon-Wanamingo freshman Natasha Sortland dominated the field, winning the 1A title by over a minute and heads into state as the state's fastest runner so far this season. Cotter, Plainview-Elgin-Millvile and Rochester Lourdes each earned a pair of individual state qualifications.

INDIVIDUAL STATE QUALIFIERS: 2. Grace Feder, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop; 5. Addison Peed, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown; 6. Claire Fischer, Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's-Sleepy Eye-New Ulm Cathedral; 7. Paola Acevedo, St James Area; 8. Kendall Guerrero, Glencoe-Silver Lake; 9. Marissa Whitehead, Martin County West; 10. Lauran Dimler, W-E-M; 11. Katie Hartke, Martin Co West
RECAP: No. 10 Belle Plaine took the 2A title by 14 points over no. 11 Fairmont. Fairmont sophomore no. 7 Laura Thompson won the individual title but it was not enough to lift her team to the section title. Belle Plaine averaged 20:10 across their top five with a 61 second split that was over a minute better than Fairmont. Six teams were represented by individual state meet qualifications.

INDIVIDUAL STATE QUALIFIERS: 3. Grace Drietz, Canby-Minneota; 4. Maddie Lesage, Redwood Valley; 6. Gracie Bucher, Windom Area; 9. Braeleyn Merritt, Canby-Minneota; 10. Lily McCone, Springfield; 11. Chloe Haven, Wabasso; 13. Taylor Post, Southwest MN Christian; 14. Jasmine Barnes, Redwood Valley
RECAP: No. 2 ranked Murray County Central-Fulda junior Morgan Gehl is the section 3A champ for the third time in a row, but this time her team is also the section champion. The no. 3 ranked Rebels edged no. 4 ranked Luverne by three points. MCC-F had another pair of runners join Gehl in the top ten and that helped overcome the Cardinals nine point advantage in the fifth scoring spot. Gehl ran a season best 18:03 to defeat no. 3 Luverne sophomore Tenley Nelson by 44 seconds. 3A had six schools earn individual state meet qualifications.

INDIVIDUAL STATE QUALIFIERS: 4. Margo Nightingale, Mounds Park Academy; 6. Greta Long, Eagle Ridge/ISM; 7. Bridget Tetmeyer, Twin Cities Academy; 8. Ava Kletti, Eagle Ridge/ISM; 9. Esme Gulbransen, Breck; 10. Katie Dahiya, Mounds Park Academy; 11. Molly Dinardo, Minnehaha Academy; 12. Ave Wolf, Saint Agnes
RECAP: The Blake School earned a seven point win over runner-up Saint Paul Academy & Summit School to win the 4A title. Math & Science freshman Greta Hansen posted a 31 second win in her section title run. Overall, the 4A girls race was the tightest section meet in the state this year with just 11 points separating first from fourth. SPA was two points better than Nova Classical Academy who was also two points better than fourth place Minnehaha Academy. Just 16 seconds separated the top four teams in team average and only SPA had more than two runners in the top ten individuals. Six schools from 4A will send individuals to state.

INDIVIDUAL STATE QUALIFIERS: 4. Alaina Steele, Pine City; 5. Molly Novotny, Spectrum; 7. Augusta Demarais, Maple Lake; 8. Mary Miller, Maple Lake; 9. Eva Johnson, Pine City; 10. Margaret Myskowski, Northwest Homeschool; 11. Reese Hartl, Hinckley-Finlayson; 14. Keily Wheeler, Annandale
RECAP: No. 6 Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted won the 5A title by six points over runner-up Providence Academy. HL-W-W overcame Providence placing a pair of runners in the top six by closing with a tighter team split saving 11 points in the final scoring position. Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity-Mayer Lutheran seventh grade sensation and no. 8 ranked Addison Hoof earned an impressive win over a pair of former all-state seniors Providence's Madeline Kelly in second and HL-W-W's Gracie Mallak in third.

INDIVIDUAL CHAMP: Kyanna Burton, Staples-Motley, 19:02.5
INDIVIDUAL STATE QUALIFIERS: 2. Caroline Kuehne, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle; 8. Brookelyn Kuechle, Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball; 9. Cailyn Kuechle, EV-W-K; 10. Kayla Meyer, Melrose; 11. Teagan Nelson, West Central Area; 12. Lexi Bright, WCA; 13. Rachel Gowin, Breckenridge-Wahpeton; 14. Meredith Carrington, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta
RECAP: No. 2 Staples-Motley knocked off no. 7 Albany for the 6A team title. S-M was led by no. 6 ranked eighth grader Kyanna Burton winning the individual title by over 50 seconds. Albany made a hard run at the team title with individuals going 4-5-6 but S-M held advantages in the final two scoring spots to win the meet. Six teams from 6A will send individuals to state.

RECAP: No. 9 Pequot Lakes won the team title over runner-up Mesabi East in section 7A. Individually PL eighth grader no. 5 ranked Calia Chaney pulled off the minor upset in knocking off Mesabi East senior no. 4 ranked and two-time defending section champ Ava Hill. The two teams were close through the first two scorers but Pequot pulled away with double digit advantages in the final three scoring slots. Seven different schools from 7A will be represented by individual runners at the state meet.

INDIVIDUAL CHAMP: Jade Rypkema, Nevis, 18:54.9
INDIVIDUAL STATE QUALIFIERS: 1. Jade Rypkema, Nevis; 2. Kira Sweeney, Wadena-Deer Creek; 4. Lydia Floden, East Grand Forks; 7. Anjalie Aho, United North Central; 8. Abby Syverson, Pelican Rapids; 9. Lelia Johnson, Roseau; 11. Jerzie Finstad, Thief River Falls; 14. Eliana Bleess, Warroad
RECAP: Perham rolled on to another section title with a 64 point win over runner up Hawley. Hawley finished tied with United North Central at 105. Hawley advanced on sixth runner scoring, just one place better than that of UNC. Nevis freshman Jade Rypkema registered a 33 second win over the field. Athletes from eight different schools earned an individual qualification spot to the state meet.
