Huge Day Of Racing Consists Of Twenty Meets

PREVIEW

Weather: 50, rain

BOYS

Virtual Meet Projection: Hutchinson (20), Delano (58)

Top Individuals: Mitchell Grand (Hutchinson, 16:24), Lane Schwarz (LeSeur-Henderson, 16:28), Ben Becker (Hutchinson, 16:40), Jacob Lipke (Hutchinson, 16:57), Jack Jaeger (Hutchinson, 16:59)

The Skinny: Hutchinson is ready to take on this field by storm today. Their top five runners are projected to finish before another team has their second runner in. Delano seems like the clear second place team with the rest of the field projected to finish far behind. After not competing at the Swain Invitational over the weekend due to injury, Harris Anderson will also be sitting this meet out, though he plans on returning to action for his conference meet next week. Anderson has had a great season so far with a Milaca Mega Meet win and a 16th place finish at Griak, so it's great to hear that he will not be out long. Without him, Mitchell Grand and Lane Schwarz are the two names to watch. They have not raced yet this season so it will be an interesting matchup to watch. They have both run personal bests this season and each have won one race.

GIRLS

Virtual Meet Projection: New Prague (46), Delano (65), Hutchinson (84), Jordan (86)

Top Individuals: Isabelle Schmitz (Hutchinson, 18:52), Grace Jostock (Delano, 19:44), Victoria Flores (LeSueur-Henderson, 19:48), Basia Babcock (Jordan, 20:00)

The Skinny: After an historic race Twin Cities Marathon this past weekend, Class A's top-ranked runner Tierney Wolfgram will be sitting out this meet in which she was the defending champion, due to resume racing at next week's conference championships. This leaves seventh-grader Isabelle Schmitz to be the top runner in the field. Schmitz is undefeated this season between junior high and varsity competition, and has already run a personal best in the 5000m of under 19 minutes. She won the middle school section of this race last year as a sixth-grader, so it would be an impressive return if she won the varsity section this year. Behind her should be Grace Jostock, Victoria Flores, and Basia Babcock battling for the next few spots. On the team side, New Prague is projected to be the best team in the field with Delano coming in behind them.
